Inside My Head

(insert witty tagline here so people will think I’m cool)

F'ing WVU

Darris Nichols swooshed a 3-pointer as time expired to end Mississippi State’s NIT tournament run.

It wasn’t the shot that hurt so much. It was the deja vu experience of State building a commanding second half lead only to let it get away. Again.

I won’t make excuses for State losing. Plenty of blame will be pointed at the refs for bad calls or calls that just weren’t made, but the bottom line is we didn’t close the deal. Again.

But as disappointed as I am that we lost the game, I’m proud of my beloved Bulldogs for making the tournament run after being snubbed from the big dance. This is a very young team. There are only two seniors on the roster and both Jamont Gordon (sophomore) and Charles Rhodes (junior) are expected to return next season. The potential (and expectations) for next season is outstanding. My own personal expectations for next season at this point are winning the SEC West outright, competiting for the overall SEC regular season title, winning the SEC tournament title, and being a 1-3 seed in the big dance. I think these guys are just that good now that they’ve had a season to play together and become a team.
