This morning, U.S. Senator Trent Lott announced his retirement effective at the end of this year. Lott says a Sunday sermon and a Thanksgiving dinner with dozens of family members prompted his decision to call it quits after 35 years in Congress.
The rumor mill immediately turned to Lott replacing Robert Khayat as chancellor at Ole Miss. When asked about it, Lott dodged the question and said, “Not that I know of. I’ve heard speculation of that… I don’t know what’s available there.”
